Some years after his brother, Ray and his then wife Gladys divorced Ural married his brother’s former wife, Gladys Mary Gunn, who was born June 14, 1900 in West Bridgeford, Nottingham, Nottingham Shire, England. They were married in July of 1932.
Ural was born in Butte, Nebraska on December 10, 1896. He came to the Corriander district of southern Saskatchewan in about 1912 with his family. Ural married Gladys in July of 1932. They lived in coriander and later moved to a farm three miles north of Val Marie and later into Val Marie. In 1959 they moved St. Ignatius, Montana where they ranched and raised black angus cattle. Ural resided on the ranch until the time of his passing. Ural farmed and hunted coyotes and was very good with horses. The highlight of his life was trailing 60 head of horses 1600 miles up to the Peace River Country. They crossed three major rivers on their trip up there. Ural was known as a kind and gentle man and will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his family and many friends.
Ural had been a very steady hard worker and provided well for the family. Ray’s eldest daughter, Iris never lived much with them and lived with her grandparents the Gunn’s. Another daughter Elaine also lived with her aunt Edith Gough, for much of her younger years. However, Ural and Gladys raised her three three other children, Dorothy (born in 1921), Betty and Francis. Although Gladys and Ural had several children, only one, Patricia Anne lived.
Ural farmed, and hunted coyotes and badgers he had a nice pack of grey hounds. He was very good with horses. In later years he got trucks and cars and made money raising cattle to take care of the families needs. they moved from Saskatchewan, Canada to St. Ignatius, Montana in 1959. Ural had diabetes. They farmed and ranched in the Mission Valley north of St. Ignatius along Post Creek. they also had a home in St. Ignatius. Much of their operation was connected with his daughter Patricia and husband Glenn.
